GARDENING

All Hands on Deck…

Well actually, just my hands on deck.   The deck in front of the sheds is wide and expansive and well worth every extra dollar it took from my meager budget.  Although at the time it was a bit of a shock.  But it makes such a great working space where I either sit beside my project comfortably at one end or stand beside it like … Continue reading All Hands on Deck…

But this year I am determined to have a fabulous and abundant harvest so this is what I'm doing to keep my tomatoes safe and healthy. : o)Click on the link to my blog to find out all the details: ... The end of an era. My humble Upright Rosemary is no more. I had no choice but to cut it down and pull it out of the garden because it was quite dead. But it will live on in the tiny little branch that layered itself and grew roots and the hundreds of cuttings that form the hedge in the Rock Garden.I've kept its branches and will use them in the summer to add flavoured smoke to our BBQs. It will be wonderful. : o) ... See MoreSee Less

What kind of summer is this? It isn't super cold - only 17C so I guess that is something... But you can't even see the horizon. If you couldn't hear it you wouldn't even know we live beside the sea.I don't think I'll be doing any gardening this morning. Hopefully it burns off to become a beautiful day. : o) ... 🧄The garlic has come out... it wasn't the best - not because of the rust this time but it was in too long during wet weather and it split. Next year I won't start my early varieties quite so early. 🌽In the newly empty bed I have sown some Yates Pop Star Strawberry Popcorn. They are 6 weeks behind the Early Chief Sweetcorn which is 8 weeks behind the Glass Gem Corn. 🌽To avoid cross pollination between corn varieties you either need to seperate them by space (at least 45m but more is better) or by time (at least 3 weeks - if not more) : o) ...
