Goodbye long gloomy winter days…

Hello ever so slightly shorter gloomy winter days. Well we have passed the winter solstice – the shortest day.   No longer will the day be so abruptly ended at 5:11pm!  With each passing day we will begin our descent towards summer.  Each sunset will bring us a minute closer to the warmer sunnier days of a perfect summer.  Because this season is going to be … Continue reading Goodbye long gloomy winter days…

It’s my garden – I can change my mind if I want to.

I cleared another three beds yesterday.  Or should I say I cleared 10% of the garden.  That sounds way better described like this.  I am such a hard worker doing 10%!  But if the truth be known, it was actually kind of easy.  The soil is soft and crumbly and not too wet, so the weed roots just slipped right out.  The other thing is … Continue reading It’s my garden – I can change my mind if I want to.

Please don’t consider me promiscuous

But I’m going to try and do 30 beds in 30 days!  And the challenge started yesterday.  I am sitting here with sore aching muscles.  Initially I thought it was the foreign lurgy I brought home from our trip as a souvenir.   Then it occurred to me – this is what hard work feels like!  I have been so crazy busy on other projects and … Continue reading Please don’t consider me promiscuous

Not a bad haul considering there is only 20 days until winter!  We have butternut squash, peppers and chillies, more beans than I know what to do with, three tiny zucchini, carrots, kale, broccoli, rhubarb and the last of the tomatoes. Come again soon – this autumn weather is just too balmy to be stuck inside, I must try to do more gardening. Sarah the … Continue reading I told you there was a lot of stuff in my garden….

And order was restored in one fell swoop

Only it took many more than one pass with the mower to make the garden look remotely manageable again. It took four tankful’s of petrol, a cold cuppa tea, a large cold drink of water and an ice block and I honestly feel like I have walked a country mile – if not two or three! But I did it – I dragged the mower … Continue reading And order was restored in one fell swoop

SMOKING HOT!

When your chilli plants are ripening more jalapenos than you can keep up with under normal circumstances and then throw the lack of a kitchen into the mix…. This will be rectified soon, hopefully I’ll be cooking up a storm by the end of next week.  Well you need to get creative with your produce producing.  I have already found a fabulous way to process … Continue reading SMOKING HOT!
