But to be honest we knew there would be days like these. I’m so sorry but I didn’t do any gardening.
It was cold, grey and miserable outside, although that wouldn’t have normally stopped me. What held me back was a giant monkey on my back in the form of some very overdue paperwork. I couldn’t put it off any longer. The constant thought of it was impinging on the pleasure of doing the things I love. So I spent the day taking care of it. And now it is done. Yay.
So as compensation – please enjoy this amazing yellow beet.

Come again soon – I will garden again – I have to or I will implode!

Yes, and what about that soup?
Hi There. I hope I didn’t build the soup up too much – although it was lovely.
Cheers Sarah : o )
WE are in the midst of torrential rains. My garden, which was freshly tilled is looking like a pond right now. Hopefully it will jump start everything.
Hi Joe,
I hope your garden recovered well from the rain. It is alway frustrating when all your efforts are defeated by the elements.
Cheers Sarah : o )
Actually I have a low spot that is part of the whole drainage of the property that runs down the middle og my garden. Not much i can do about it. All in all there was not enough damage to worry about. In fact, everything is responding very well to the rain. My beans are blooming and thanks to the protective fence we will have Tenderette beans to pick and eat for the first time in three years.
There’s gardening…then there’s a whole other life that needs seeing to 🙂
Hi Wendy. There is an expression “God made rainy days so gardeners could get there housework done.” It’s one of my favourite sayings. The thing is – when it is cold and rainy I don’t really want to do either!
Cheers Sarah : o )
Lol, I must admit to spending a fair amount of time sitting by the fire painting these yucky days. In summer and autumn the housework was coming way behind getting food sorted but winter for me is my down time from that and the house is looking a bit more socially acceptable I am pleased to say, I have time for a bit more leisure 🙂 Spring will be here soon enough and back into it! I just finished working 3 months ago so am enjoying some down time.
Be kind to yourself. Your garden knows the love you give. Sometimes all gardeners need to sit and re-energize.
Hi Tracy. Thank you for your kind words. We have been on a bit of a mini break, which is why I am really behind with responding to my comments. I am now all relaxed and rejuvenated and have a clean house and am ticking things off my gardening list.
Cheers Sarah : o )
MAN, I am going to tell you- I know what you mean. That whole other life quarteracre speaks of kinda stinks, sometimes. LOL
Hi There. How lovely would it be if we only had to do what we wanted to and somehow the rest magically took care of itself. It was like that when I was a kid, but somewhere along the way that function stopped working and was deleted from the buttons on the magic wand!
Cheers Sarah : o )
Beautiful photograph.
Thank you Jean.

But what a great feeling to get the paperwork done! All in good time 🙂 The pic just looks like my rainbow chard! Dana
Hi Dana. I think my rainbow beet and your rainbow chard are one and the same. It is such a cheerful plant to have in a winter garden.
