I knew I wouldn't have enough spare time to fix the chicken fence in one go, so it has become a case of 'whack-a-mole' staying one step behind the chickens as they find gaps in the temporarily patched fence to rampage through the garden. Today I saw them sneaking out a corner of dissolved chicken wire so I fixed that bit and it was so satisfying! : o) ...

She is an environmental artist and paints the bush to remind us to take care of our native treasures.I've just found out she just won the BEST IN SHOW PORTER AWARD at the Waimarino Art Awards 2026, with her painting called 'Old Man of the Forest'.Check out all her other amazing paintings on her page. : o) ...

I'm beginning to think asparagus is a magical plant.One day you pick everything that is ready to be picked and the very next day - it is back again in all of its abundant gloriousness.I've gone beyond seeing it as a seasonal treat and am now looking at creative ways to use it up. I love fresh asparagus - it is so sweet and delish - and I wouldn't want to waste a single spear! : o) ...
