It’s been unprecedented

Firstly…  we’re ok. There has been an extraordinary amount of rain in our neck of the woods this week.  So much so the word unprecedented has been bandied about quite freely.  But it isn’t everyday you see people wading through the airport up to their knees or water cascading over motorway barriers like a infinity pool or sloshing about inside buses. Sadly this has been … Continue reading It’s been unprecedented

Birthday Surprise!

So much for a glorious long weekend building structures and then planting out the plants that are to be supported by them all season long. Not again!

Cyclone Donna.  There are no words…. It started raining spits and spots at lunch time yesterday – about 20 hours ago. It isn’t expected to stop until 6pm tonight – so about 8 more hours to go. Stop I say… I can’t take anymore

Now I know I promised not to moan about the weather again after our particularly soggy summer.  But it would seem autumn isn’t playing fair either. In the 10 years we have been here, we’ve never seen it like this.  And just to add more drama there is more heavy rain expected today and then a repeat again next week. Hopefully the boffins have it … Continue reading Stop I say… I can’t take anymore

It is still early days but…

While summer is still many moons away, I have taken a few steps that create a tenuous thread that links the cold wet miserableness of today with the hot, heady endless days of late summer.  I sowed my pepper seeds.   I normally do this with great fanfare on the 1st of August, however this year I was somewhat detained by the warm sea and sun … Continue reading It is still early days but…
