I have been putting the glass in slowly and carefully and haven’t cut myself so I see this as a success. But I can’t claim victory as it isn’t finished. I reckon one more day and one more push and the roof will be up. I really truly hope so, as this has been a big project and I just want to get on to other things now. Spring is here and the weeds are growing as is the lawn and I find myself really wanting to pull weeds and cut grass instead of spending yet another day on the greenhouse.

But my seedlings on the windowsill are giving me the drive I need to push on. My ability to fill the garden with enough veggies to feed us for the whole year rests in the need to get the greenhouse finished as I don’t have enough north facing windows and the seedlings lucky enough to have a spot in the sun are jostling for the best position.

So I shall give it one last push and get the job done and step back and admire weeks of hard work, the seedlings will go in and I’ll be able to mow and weed to my heart’s content – but I’ll probably get sick of these pretty quickly too, but they need to be done to get ready for planting out the new season!
Come again soon – hopefully I’ll be finished!

You’re brave using real glass! Our windows are plastic. It’s coming along really well!
Hi Virginia. Using real glass is the best way here in NZ. Our sun is really strong – due to a hole in the ozone layer. Plastic greenhouses – even the polycarbonate ones will perish within two years. I have been through so many greenhouses, but the bright side is every time I needed a new one I got a slightly bigger one! Cheers Sarah : o )
I didn’t think of the ozone. You must really have to be good with the sunscreen.
Nice work – it will be worth it in the end!
Thanks Angela for your supportive words.

It’s looking great, Sarah! When you get done with it, will you come build one for me? 🙂
Hi Sharon. I would like to think this is the last greenhouse I build in a really long time. While being enjoyable, it was very hard work. I still can’t believe I managed it!
Cheers Sarah : o )
It’s a very impressive accomplishment. I guess I’ll just have to follow the trail blazed by you and see if I can manage to build my own when I get the money saved!
Coming along GREAT!!!
Thanks for your support. It has been really encouraging.
Cheers Sarah : o )
It’s a magnificent greenhouse. I am sure you will reap the rewards of your hard work.
HI Jean. I am really excited to have such a fancy greenhouse. I’m sure my seedlings will flourish in there and it will be full to bursting before I know it!
Cheers Sarah : o )
Great job!!! Really nicely done. I’d love to have one as well to get things started earlier but my garden is about the size of your greenhouse, lol; so…. 🙂
Hi there. My first backyard was so small there wasn’t room for a garden, so now I realise just how fortunate I am to have so much space. Thanks for your kind words.
