I’m running out of thyme

Well… not exactly.  I have enough thyme.  It is just it has been in the ground for so long now that the centre is dying out, despite the lush growth and the frequent clippings I’ve been giving it.  It tastes so good in all my hearty winter dishes.  Even with its bald patch in the centre, it seems determined to take over my herb garden, … Continue reading I’m running out of thyme

Did I mention spring is coming?

It was another gorgeous blue sky day today – the kind you can sense the spring in the air.  Just a hint mind you.  But that hint is enough to set hope and wishful thinking into action.  Dreams of the perfect season fill my head.  My instinct is to put on my gumboots and do a bit of digging.  But alas no.  Not today.  I … Continue reading Did I mention spring is coming?

Five things that say Spring is Coming! and one thing that says it isn’t.

Join me in a short tour of my veggie patch to check out what I have been up to. Come again soon – there is … Continue reading Come and see what is going on in my spring garden

Winter, you have had your turn – go away

If you look at stereotypical images of spring it is always blue skies and perfectly formed flowers and blossoms, delicate seedlings and maybe a gentle shower or two.  I would have a hard job capturing any image that even remotely resembles this spring ideal.  Winter won’t let go!  It is cold – not spring chilly, but harsh winter cold.  It is wet – not spring … Continue reading Winter, you have had your turn – go away

Spring is a season of new beginnings

A time to sow and time to launch. Now you may have noticed that I haven’t been as bloggy this last year as in previous years as I have been a bit distracted.  I have written this most amazing kids gardening book PLAY IN THE GARDEN and it will be released in good book stores in New Zealand on September 5th.   So super excited! When … Continue reading Spring is a season of new beginnings
